Oh My Fur and Whiskers, I’m Late, I’m late, I’m Late!!! 9/12/2014

Yep, just like the White Rabbit, I’m late. So much to do and so little time, I’m sure that many of you can relate. Given the fact that Alice in Wonderland was written so many years ago and the “I’m Late” stuff was already in place suggests to me that it’s not exactly a modern day distress. But hey, then again, it’s better late than never, so the saying goes.

This will be one of the last few remaining outdoor markets before we move indoors for the fall season on the first week of October so we’re hoping that YOU wont be late in coming down and joining us in the fun. We’ll have lots of summer and some fall produce ready for you to choose from, come and stock up those root cellars, fill up those Mason jars, and freezers! If you need inspiration to do so, give a listen to this………….

We will be featuring Folk Spirits as our musical guests at the MGM music tent today. These folks are great, gifted musicians who play lots of original tunes, crack jokes and totally connect with their audience, guaranteed you will not be disappointed. If you are, we’ll give you a refund.1.bmp

The Market Cafe will be open for business this week, serving up lots of good grub to delight your taste buds and fill your tummy. Stop in the Parrish Hall, say hello, grab a bite to eat, a liquid refreshment, or both. This week they’ll be featuring a Meatless special, a soy glazed sweet potato with honey mustard and Brussels sprouts. Yummie!! Their Special Vegetarian Soup will be a Thai Butternut Squash soup. This soup sold out within the first 15 minutes in the spring!!!

If you’re in the area, stop at the MGM booth, say hello, and check out our stash of goodies.  We’ll be hawking the new 2014 t-shirts in different colors and styles. We’ll also have older MGM T-shirts, aprons, and MGM $5.00 GIFT CERTIFICATES that can be used at any vendor booth (great gift idea). All proceeds from sales and donations go to making the MGM work. You’ll also be able to enjoy great freshly brewed cup of coffee, on the house, courtesy of our friends at the Night and Day Coffee Shop, just up the street. They keep the wheels rolling for some of us folks at the MGM.  Thanks!

If you or someone you know has something of interest that you/they would like to share with the community, such as art, books, music, hobbies, nature studies, etc., please contact us at mgmpainfo@gmail.com to be considered for hosting a booth at the market. We also welcome non-profits of all sorts for consideration. In most cases we will supply you or your organization with a tent , chairs, tables, and electrical power if needed, all at no cost.  All you’ll need to do is bring your info to share with the community; sounds like a win/win to me.

Here’s a list of scheduled vendors and their products for the week:

First, we’d like to give a big welcome aboard to Heather and Dave, the folks from Bohlayers Orchards, making their first appearance at the MGM this week. You can stop at their booth, pick up pears, see what else might be available and welcome them to market. While you’re there ask them about their operation and their natural growing methods.

Here’s a bit of info suppled by Heather. “Do you enjoy canned pears? Do you loathe peeling all of those pears? Then we have great news for you! Pears may be canned WITH the peel on!!! Wash them well, cut them using an apple corer/slicer, then can as usual. This keeps the nutrition of the peel with the fruit. And we do not use harsh chemicals. This is a win, win, win situation!!! Stop in soon for Bartlett pears while supplies last!” pears

Remember what the dormouse said, “Feed your head,” but I like to think for one to do so one needs to feed their body first, so hop on down to the MGM and stop chasing those rabbits.

We’ve got all the healthy stuff you’ll need to feed your body.

Hope to see you at the MGM located at the Saint James Episcopal Church located in Mansfield, Pa. on Wellsboro Street, one block east of the downtown light. Look for our signs.
