Looking like we might have some foul weather, flash floods and all, but we won’t let that stop us from coming to Market. We’ll be there, come the proverbial Hell or high water, and we hope it doesn’t stop you either. But, do it safely. We’ll be inside the Parish hall, if need be, with the Market Cafe folks. You’ll be able to stay dry, shop, say hi, and grab a bite to eat all in one trip.
This week the Market Cafe folks will be serving their weekly favorites as well as:
Meatless Entree – Asparagus Quesadilla served with rice and beans
Soup – Asparagus Soup
So, step into the Parish, see the vendors, get dry, and grab a bite! What could be cozier?
For music this week, Jessica Crum is scheduled to make her first Market appearance. Let’s all welcome her.
We will, as always, have our MGM booth open and supplied with lots of info, market swag, and a full line of new Market tee-shirts for the season. Stop by, say hi, and, while you’re there, pick up some raffle tickets for the Mansfield Free Public Library basket raffle. 27 different baskets to bid on, 3 of them being MGM baskets, loaded with gift certificates and other goodies from many of your favorite MGM growers and Friends. Take a chance, support a great cause, and hopefully win a great prize!
Here’s the list of the scheduled vendors for the week:
Always Somethin’ Farm will be there with their wonderful goats milk products and garlic scallions. There will also be plenty of asparagus!
Liz from Yorkshire Meadows will have lots of her special jams and trademark lemon curd, beautiful homespun woolen goods, great advice, and a big smile.
Udder Merry Mac will have lettuces so beautiful you’ll want to display them instead of eating them.
Between Two Rivers Maple products will be available for your sweet tooth.
Hillstone Farms will be there with high quality meat cuts and products. Want some REAL hotdogs and burgers for that weekend cookout? Stop and see Todd.
The Herb Corner will be bringing fresh picked lettuce and a variety of cut herbs. They will have onions and new this week they will be picking a Spinach/Swiss Chard mix. They will also have Herb plants and a variety of Vegetable Plants. New this week, they will bring some Nasturtium Baskets and a Mint variety Basket
Andy will be there from Spring Meadows Farm with lots of pastured eggs and wild leeks. Wild leeks ( ramps ) make the best leek potato soup you’ll ever taste.
Cliff will bring a variety of Running Bear spring greens from his high tunnel, as well as chickens and chicken parts from his first batch of the season. Claire and I had fresh chicken from Cliff last night, so I can attest to that wonderful quality of said yardbirds; they are delish!
Shannon and Erin will have breads, cookies, biscotti, and more; stop by their booth and say hello.
So, with that kind of line-up on a rainy day, what’s to stop you from coming to MGM and spending some quality time with a friendly crowd, grabbing a bite to eat from the Market Cafe and going home with some healthy, quality products? We’ll be there, rain or shine.
Hope to see you at the MGM located at the Saint James Episcopal Church located in Mansfield, Pa. on Wellsboro Street, one block east of Main Street.
