Autumn is in the air! Everyday is a brisk reminder that summer is behind us and winter is coming. This week marks the last out-door market of the season, but don’t let that get you down because this week brings good news and good buys!
Spring Meadow Farm will have more of its beautiful produce in stock including butternut and sweet dumpling squash, salad greens, spinach, watercress, carrots, garlic, peas, onions, kale, swiss chard, and beans! The Herb Corner will be sampling pea shoots (as a prelude to the micro-greens they will be selling in the extended market– but more on that later). They will also have mums, fresh-cut flowers and herbs, as well as eggplant and leeks!
Darlene of Cardinal Inn B&B is now a registered baker and will have french bread, steakhouse wheat rolls, and dill casserole bread to offer along with the local raw honey and gorgeous necklaces she brings each week. Be some of the first to try these new market treats! She even mentioned that she might be bringing cake (what a treat!). Glenfiddich Farm will have everyone’s favorite chocolate chip cookies and baked treats! Yorkshire Meadows will be equipped with scones and cookies galore to go along with their lemon and lime curd. Also check out their beautiful wool and wool creations: sweaters, hats, and scarves! Don’t let the chilly temperatures get the best of you… tackle them with soft, locally spun yarn!
All your favorites will be available: dairy, meat, breads, produce and crafts! Peruse around the market and take a peek at all our fabulous vendors. The hot cart will be in full gear with chili (YUM!), courtesy of St. James church. Enjoy a soul-warming cup while Folks Spirit jam at the music tent. They have closed the market every year and are back to help this year go out with a bang! Make sure you stop by and dance (or listen!) to the sweet tunes of Ross, Bill, and John.
Special to the market this week, there will be a bounce house for the kids! Bring them along after school and let them bounce around and have fun while you do the shopping.
**(Please note that if the weather decides to act up and rain, the bounce house will not be out).
While this week marks the last outdoor market of the season, not all hope is lost. For the first time the Mansfield Growers Market will be extending the season! Starting next friday (October 5) MGM will be packing things up and moving inside the Parish Hall at St. James. While it will be a little more casual than the summer market, it will do a great job of ensuring that your truly local grocer will still be in business. Vendors who plan to attend regularly are: Running Bear Farm, Utter Merry Mac Farm, Always Somethin’ Farm, Basically Bagels, Glenfiddich Baked Goods, Yorkshire Meadows, Inn to the Seasons, Spring Meadows Farm, Keeney Farm, Sun Rise Farm, Toy Cow Creamery, Pure Hart Soap, and The Herb Corner, with additional vendors coming occasionally. This is great news for everyone! For more information, stop by the Mansfield Growers Market tent this week!!
Come and join us for this last outdoor market of the season. It’s going to be fun for everyone!!! This Friday 3-6 pm on the grounds of St. James Church on Route 6 one block east of Main Street. Rain or shine!
