Hello Dear and Wonderful Friends of the Mansfield Growers Market,
August is now upon us! This week brings in more of that amazing produce along with so many other little surprises.
Beets, carrots, garlic, green beans, peas, peppers, potatoes, onions, spinach, swiss chard, salad mixes galore, cucumber, zucchini, and squash are some of the wonderful offerings from Spring Meadow Farms this week. Running Bear Farm will have some of the same along with kohlrabi, tomatoes, cauliflower, eggplants, shallots, celery, and okra! Don’t forget to check out their chicken, turkey and rabbit products as well as the lamb! Make sure you stop by Starbright Farm and to see what produce they are offering, too! While you are looking, stop by Hillstone Farm and stock up on any and all grass-fed beef cuts. Always Somethin’ Farm will have elephant and soft neck garlic, garlic braids, and purple string beans (in addition to goat milk soap and our wonderful personalities). Yippee!!! Also, there will be berries!!!
While the market is overflowing with produce, it’s also abundant with many other beautiful and wondrous things. Basically Bagels is debuting the Sunflower bagel! Along with the other delish flavors, this particular bagel is expected to be highly fulfilling. Pair that with some jam from Yorkshire Meadows and you got breakfast (lunch, or heck! even dinner). While you are there, look for some scones, cookies and amazing wool creations. Gaiam Gardens will have hanging terrariums, handmade hair clips and brooches, hypertufa pots potted with succulents, and a few new tea cup bird feeders to choose from! There are always so many beautiful crafts vendors to browse and shop, so make sure you check out all the offerings. Cut flowers, jewelry, hand-crafted soaps… the list goes on! There are plenty of sweets available, too! Cookies, cakes, cupcakes… yeah, we got those, too.
Yorkholo will be serving up on the hot cart this week with some meatball and veggie-ball subs! Don’t shop on an empty stomach, eat at the hot cart first! They will also be providing birch beer and lemonade. While you are munching on your YH goodies, you can listen to the tunes of Folks Spirits, a truly lovely local act. Also, Julie Schlosser will be providing a musical activity for the kids, so make sure you bring them along as well!
As always, the market it going to be tons of fun with so much to offer, so come on out for fresh food—grown by your friends! Friday 3-6 pm on the grounds of St. James Church on Route 6 one block east of Main Street. Rain or shine!
